6dB studio is a Manchester city centre based, 40 track capable recording studio - offering both digital and analog options.

Established in 2001, 6dB has been consistently producing quality recordings for over 15 years now.

In April 2016 the studio moved premises, to a new, purpose-designed space. From here we can now offer a spacious [65 sq m] live room
with drum booth and a spacious control room, with a hefty arsenal of high-end outboard gear. There's additional recording areas and
recreational space and also a private, outdoor, sheltered smoking area.

Owner and in-house engineer, Simon 'Ding' Archer, started studio engineering in 1987 and has had success in the music industry as
an engineer, producer and musician. He has toured as bass player with many bands, including The Fall; PJ Harvey; Frank Black;
Red Lorry Yellow Lorry & Moris Tepper [Capt Beefheart/Tom Waits] . He also played bass on the Pixies' "Indie Cindy" recordings of 2013
Currently he plays and records with Manchester bands As Able As Kane & Bobbie Peru.
As a producer and sound engineer, his association with Mark E Smith & The Fall has continued since 2003 and he still regularly works
with them at the studio. To date he has credits on 11 of their albums and 10 EP/singles.

Working on both sides of the glass, Ding has a great reputation for understanding the needs of artists in order to coerce the best
results from them. Add to this decades of recording and production experience and the warmth of the analogue options that 6dB has
to offer and good results are pretty much guaranteed here.

6dB thrives on a relaxed and friendly atmosphere and is located really close to all of the amenities that both Manchester and Salford
have to offer. Manchester's main high street, Deansgate is just a 5 minute walk away.

Prices are very competitive and the studio offers various recording deal options. If you're looking to record, please get in touch and tell
us want you want to achieve and we'll provide you with a quote.
